Specialist in the development and adaptation of new works. In the US, he has directed and assistant-directed theater, opera, musical theater, and dance on Broadway, Off Broadway, and regionally with such companies as the Chicago Opera Theater, Los Angeles Center Theater Group, The Ahmanson Theater, Music Theater Works, The Broadhurst Theater, the New York Theater Workshop, and the San Francsco Actors' Theater.

He was the assistant director to James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim on the Broadway revival of Into the Woods (10 Tony nominations, winner Best Revival), the original production of James Lapine’s Dirty Blonde (5 Tony nominations), and also to Diane Paulus on the Broadway workshop production of Dirty Dancing.

His New York directing credits include: Who Will Carry the Word? at The New 42nd Street Theater, Garden and Volcano at the Horace Mann Theater, and Ritter Dene Voss, The Drunken Sisters, and King Lear at the Schapiro Theater.
 
In Taiwan, he has directed shows at the Weiwuying National Performing Arts Center, Taiwan National Concert Hall, Taichung National Theater, Taiwan National Experimental Theater, Guling Street Avant Garde Theater, Kaohsiung Cultural Center, Xinyng Cultural Center, Tainan Living Arts Center, Tainan People’s Theater, Taichung Open Theater, Wansha Art Center, and the Ben Feng E-Warehouse.

Previous to directing, he worked as an actor in numerous stage productions, was a featured performer with the Mel Wong Dance Company, and performed improvisational theater for five years with the Um Gee Um troupe. He served as dramaturg for productions of Dr. Faustus Lights the Lights, The School for Salomes, King Lear, The Tempest, Love’s Labours Lost, and was an editor for Anne Bogart’s book A Director Prepares.
 
He is an associate professor of drama at Tainan Tech University, and has also taught classes and workshops at the University of Colorado (Boulder), University of California (Santa Cruz), Taipei Performing Arts Center (TPAC),  Taipei National University of the Arts, Taiwan Normal University, Donghua University, Feng Jia University, National Pingtung University, the Taipei American School, the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA), Ateneo de Manila University, Silliman University, and the Weiwuying National Performing Arts Center, where he co-taught workshops on voice and physical theatre with Kristin Linklater.

He received his MFA in Directing from Columbia University under the instruction of Anne Bogart and Robert Woodruff. Additionally, he trained in Viewpoints and Suzuki techniques with Anne Bogart and the SITI Company at the Saratoga International Theatre Institute. He also trained in improvisation under Keith Johnstone at Stanford University, as well as workshops with BATS under Rebecca Stockley, Barbara Scott, and Rafe Chase.
